Dunning Kruger Effect

    Have you ever found a high school friend who feels they are above average in intelligence? Or have you probably seen your friends on social media who are "experts" on various subjects? Well that is what we call Dunning-Kruger Effect   The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias that causes people to underestimate their abilities compared to their actual skill set. Some people can be irrationally overconfident while others can be irrationally humble.     The cause of the Dunning-Kruger effect is confidence. Confidence can be used in such a way that many people would rather pretend to be smart or skilled than risk looking inadequate.
