In the modern era, living a simple life is quite tricky. We are constantly being attacked by ads, big sales, and messages telling us we need the latest gadget or must-have items. It must be difficult to resist these temptations when it feels like everyone around us is living a more glamorous life than we are.
Ok, let's take a look at what people often think of when they hear this phrase. Minimalism means having fewer things and only what is needed. Old-fashioned living means rejecting modernity and living like it's the past. Self-sufficiency means creating everything we need and buying as little as possible. All of those are close, but none of them are quite right. The opposite of simple is not modern, expensive, or dependent.
Living a simple life looks a little different for everyone, but at its core, simple living is all about focusing on the things that truly matter. For many of us, those include our family and our friends. By living a simple life, we can cut through the craziness of the world we live in and focus on the things that are most important to us. When we do it, we might be surprised to see that we don't need all of that stuff to get through the day. The chance are we feel a lot better.
Everyone wants to be happy and living a simple life is one of them. But not all of us know how to create a simple life in modern life. There are all sorts of complicated life hacks out there that claim to make our life easier. But this article, it's going to tell a few tricks to create a simple life.
Less wanted. Everyone knows that getting what we want makes us happy for only a brief time, and then we are on to wanting the next thing. We see this cycle with children and toys, adults and money, politicians and power, and many other ways. Well... we can't find happiness in that cycle. We can start by limiting our exposure to TV, social media, and other things that are designed to make us want more things. If we have certain friends who cause us to feel like we are not satisfactory, we may need to limit our time with them as well.
Unplug more often. In this era, many of us are constantly distracted by electronics. Between our smartphones, laptops, TV, and smart devices throughout our homes, it can feel like we are always connected. It makes us impossible to unplug. By distancing ourselves from those electronics, we might be surprised to see just how much more clearly we can think. We'll sleep easier, feel more creative, and be more present in conversations with others. Try to limit screen time throughout the week and make our bedroom a place for sleeping. Don't let ourselves scroll through social media from bed. Instead, book on your bed and use an old-school alarm clock. It's cheap.
Do one thing at a time. We spend our days stressed out because we're trying to do too much at once. Overscheduling ourselves not only cuts into downtime we need but always feels like we are rushing and scrambling to get everything done. Instead, try to slow down and focus our energy on doing one thing at a time. If we have a lot on our minds, take a walk and leave our smartphones at home. Stop worrying about what we need to do later. Learning how to do one thing at a time is easier said than done, however, once we master the skill, we'll never go back to multitasking.
Bottom of the line, living a simple life is not hard or easy. The not-hard one is that everyone can try and learn to change. On the other hand, the not-easy one is because we use to connect with technology in our pockets, which is going to be tricky in the process. However, it is going to be a wonderful difference once we've done it and feel how it flows. Thank you for your time and as always have nice a day 😀.
