How many hours do you guys usually sleep? 7 hours? 5 hours? 24 hours? Do you know why do we need sleep? Some people might sleep below the average. A lot is still unknown about the purpose of sleep. However, it's widely accepted that there isn't just one explanation for why we need to sleep. It's more necessary for many biological reasons. Sleep is vital to the rest of the body. When people don't get enough sleep, their health risks rise. Here is the reason why do we need sleep.
Sleep can improve concentration and productivity. Sleep is important for various aspects of brain function. Cognition, concentration, productivity, and performance are negatively affected by sleep deprivation. Moreover, getting enough sleep can improve academic performance in children, adolescents, and young adults. Maybe next time, whenever we feel less concentration and productivity, having sleep is one of the tips.
Sleep and stress. Yes, sleep helps our mind and body relax and recover from our day. When we are sleep-deprived, our body releases stress hormones. Stress can make us react in ways that are not productive. A poor night's sleep can make feel anxious. Moreover, poor sleep is linked to depression. People with sleeping disorders such as insomnia or obstructive sleep apnea have higher rates of depression than those without.
Healthier heart. Did you know, sleeping can make our heart healthier? While we sleep, our blood pressure goes down, giving our heart and blood vessels a bit of rest. The less sleep we get, the longer our blood pressure stays up during 24 hours cycle. High blood pressure can lead to heart disease, including stroke.
Along with nutrition and exercise, taking care of our sleep is one of the pillars of health. While we sleep, our body is hard at work. It restores hormonal balance, repairs itself, keeps the circulatory, and improves immune systems. Just like we prioritise our diet and physical activity, now it's time to give sleep more attention.
Right mates, thank you for your time. Hopefully, you have learned something from this article. Thank you and have a nice day 😀.
