Trees are literally everywhere. A tree is the most obvious and remarkable plant you will see when you venture outside. There could be on the side road, house, or park. Trees provide us with a multitude of environmental, social, and economic benefits which are an important foundation for a liveable and sustainable city. Most people are curious enough to understand about trees in a forest or trees in the park. So what benefit does trees can do for us?
Trees improve the urban environment. Trees help to reduce the ambient temperature in a city by transpiring and providing shade. They are also known to improve both air and water quality by absorbing pollutants, releasing oxygen, reducing ozone levels, and reducing soil erosion. Trees can serve as a windbreak. The more compact the foliage on the group of trees the more effective the windbreak.
Trees combat climate change. Nowadays climate change has become one of the headlines in the world. Excess carbon dioxide or carbon footprints are building up in our atmosphere, contributing to climate change. The increase in greenhouse gases in our atmosphere can lead to long-term weather changes such as warmer temperatures, rising sea levels, and more extreme weather events. Trees can absorb carbon dioxide, removing and storing the carbon while oxygen is back into the air. In one year an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18 people.
Trees benefit our health. Urban trees and green spaces are beneficial to our physical and mental health. Parks and roads which are shaded by trees provide a conducive environment that encourages active lifestyles, such as physical exercise and active transportation (walking or cycling). It can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Greater exposure to urban greenery can also lead to lower rates of depression, reduced stress, lower rates of ADHD in children, and an improved overall sense of well-being.
Trees are very beneficial. We can not live without trees, especially in the urban environment. Rich oxygen and green view in the middle of the city could be hard to find it. That shows that trees enhance community well-being. Save trees and trees will save society. Thank you for your time and have a nice day 😀. Let's go outside!
