When did you last time feel very grateful? Have you ever heard about gratitude could lead to happiness? What are you grateful for today? Those questions will have different answers for different people, and the answers could change as well. Gratitude is the emotion we feel when we notice that something good has come into our lives and we appreciate it. Let says some people are very happy and grateful every time the sun is shining because they can walk outside, while others barely notice such things at all.
There are many benefits to being grateful. Gratitude is good for our psychological well-being, our relationships, and possibly even for our physical health. If someone is more grateful than someone else, it doesn't mean that this person is grateful all the time. People who say that they feel grateful a lot of the time still feel negative emotions, such as sadness, fear, or anger. Our bodies have positive and negative emotions, but it is possible to increase our overall happiness. One of them is being grateful.
Right, we do mention that gratitude can make us happier and it is true. Studies have shown that people who are more grateful than others will automatically think about the things that happen to them in a more positive way. It's called a "positive interpretation bias" which means that you are more likely to interpret a neutral or negative situation in a more positive way. The simple example, after falling off your bike, you could think "I got so lucky that I did not get hurt" and feel very grateful. Or, you could think "I can't believe this stupid bike that made me fall" and feels really angry. Which one do you choose?
Keep a gratitude journal. Establish a daily practice in which you remind yourself of the gifts, grace, benefits and good things you enjoy. Setting aside time on a daily basis to recall moments of gratitude associated with ordinary events or personal attributes. It gives you the potential to interweave a sustainable life theme of gratefulness.
However, keep in mind don't be picky of appreciate everything. Gratitude doesn't have to be saved for the "huge" things in life. The habit of being grateful starts with appreciating every good thing in life and recognising that there is nothing too small for you to be thankful for. Even if it is as simple as appreciating the clear weather or how quickly the postman delivered your package yesterday.
Gratitude might feel harder, or maybe just less natural, for some of us. The good news is that research suggests we may be able to actually train ourselves to become more grateful and that's something we can all be grateful for. Hopefully, this article helps you, and thank you for your time. So, how grateful are you today?
Have a nice day 😀.
