As we live on the earth, water has become part of our life. Water is a precious natural source, it can support all humans, plants, and animals to stay a life. Our earth is content 96.5% of water in our oceans, covering 71% of the surface of our planet. However, even we have a lot of water only 3.5% of water is edible to drink (freshwater). We could find freshwater in our lakes, rivers, and streams. Ouw, don't forget groundwater and glaciers. Over 68% of freshwater is locked up in ice and glacier, and 30% is in groundwater.
Most people know that we can't survive without water. Every living cell in our body or plants contains water. 65% of our body is water and up to 90% of plant tissue is water. Water is essential, we need at least 2 L of freshwater every day from what we drink and eat to stay healthy. Water is already a basic need in our life. It could be for cooking, cleaning, growing, and living.
Water is essential for growing, packaging, and transporting our food. Do you know how much water it takes to grow and deliver for 1 cup of tea? Do you know how much water it takes to grow and deliver 1 kilogram of beef? Let me tell you, 1 cup of tea is equal to 35 L of water and 1 kilogram of beef is equal to 22000 L of water. This proves that water is very important for living needs.
Let's talk about the water cycle. The water cycle is one of the largest physical processes on Earth. Water is constantly moved around the planet from above to the earth's surface. Waterfalls could be rain, snow, and sleet. Naturally, the water cycle is clean water. Every time water evaporates, it leaves impurities behind. This natural process keeps the environment healthy. However, we need to save water.
Safe water means having water at home, whenever needed, and free from contamination. However, 2.2 billion people still do not have access to safe drinking water. Moreover, freshwater has to maintain safe sanitation. Contaminated water could lead to disease risks such as diarrhea. One single drop of water has millions of bacteria and viruses. However, climate change is making it worse. The changing climate is destroying, drying up, and contaminating sources. Save nature and nature will save us.
There are some benefits of drinking water. Water flushes out toxins in our body through sweat and urine. Water allows heat from the body to be released when sweat evaporates from the skin surface to maintain our body temperature. Also, make our skin healthier. Water replenishes skin tissue, moisturises skin, and improves its elasticity.
Well, that's all for this article. Hopefully, you are more aware of how important water is in our life. Don't forget to stay dehydrated for your body. Our body needs water to stay a life. Thank you for your time and have a nice day 😀.
