Public Speaking Skills



  Do you remember, when was the last time you had to stand in front of a room full of people looking at you? Many people find the prospect of public speaking is frightening. But in reality, is that public speaking is a critical life skill. Developing your public speaking skills can put a huge advantage in a career. So how to improve it? well here is some advice to improve public speaking.

  Knowing your audience. Knowing your audience is the key to all successful public speeches. Knowing your audience allows you to determine what is relevant, what sort of content and type of content you need to include, which could be data points, examples, or inspirational stories. These details will allow you to pitch your speech accordingly and focus on relevant content. 

  Relax your body language. Most people have fear of public speaking, which can make them feel tense which can lead negatively affects their body language. Professional public speakers maintain proper posture, make eye contact with the audience, and move in ways that look natural. Moreover, good body language improves the performance and helps the audience take in and easily remember. Try to avoid putting your hands crossing your arms or put in your pockets. Start to use purposeful hand gestures as you make your points.

  Let your personality come through. No need to be afraid, be yourself, don't become a talking head. The audience will trust what you have to say if they can see you as a real person. Moreover, use humour and effective language. Audiences generally like a personal touch in a speech. Attach a funny anecdote in your presentation, the audience will certainly grab their attention. 

  Well, that's all the little advice to improve public speaking skills. Good communication is never perfect, and nobody expects you to be perfect.
